The four biggest ecommerce multi vendor marketplaces in Europe—Amazon, Alibaba, eBay, and Rakuten France—signed the Product Safety Pledge from the European Commission. According to the document, the companies will delete unsafe products from their virtual shopping malls faster.
The marketplaces multi vendor platform will respond to notifications about dangerous products from local authorities within 2 working days. The will also react to notices from customers within 5 working days.
The four online multi store marketplaces will also provide customers with an easy and quick way to notify them about unsafe merchandise. The companies will prevent unsafe listings to reappear on their virtual shopping malls again.
EU Commissioner Vĕra Jourová says: “Consumers should be just as safe when they buy online, as when they buy in a shop. I welcome the Product Safety Pledge which will further improve consumer safety. […] I call also on other online multi store marketplaces to join this initiative, so that the internet becomes a safer place for EU consumers.”
